BASS • Sean Foote
Sean has been playing the bass for over 18 years and teaching in Portland and Los Angeles for 8 years. He started to play bass at the age of 17. He opened his ears to bass virtuosos such as Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, James Jamerson and Victor Wooten that culminated into a style blending slapping, tapping techniques as well as just being a bass player and laying down a groove. He has been on multiple North American tours and numerous recording sessions with bands and artists such as: Jennifer Batten, Tony Furtado, Linda Hornbuckle, Olivia Warfield, Hi C, Sugar Free, Pauly Shore, Stephanie Schniderman, Nicole Campbell and the Afrodisiacs He is currently playing full time with Linda Hornbuckle and Jennifer Batten and enjoying teaching at Apple Music.
GUITAR • Scott McDevitt
Scott McDevitt offers private guitar lessons for rock, jazz, funk, blues, folk and country. He teaches all ages and all levels.
My musical background is very diverse and I enjoy teaching almost any style. My main goal as a teacher is to realize the direction the student would like to go and take them there. While learning the fundamentals of the guitar are essential, I don’t like to waste time on lessons and exercises that don’t interest the student. Learning should be fun, not a chore. Whether your goal is to strum simple folk songs, rip on rock tunes, or play more complex jazz/funk, I can show you the way.
GUITAR • Bret Malmquist
Bret: If you are interested in playing the guitar I can help. I have been playing the guitar for 32 years and have been teaching for 18 years. I attended U of O for two years studying music and graduated with honors from the guitar institute of technology (Hollywood CA) where I had the opportunity to study with some of the greatest guitarist in the world (Robben Ford, Joe Pass, Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale, Jennifer Batten, and Paul Gilbert to name a few). I can also teach you music theory, technique, improvising, reading music (or tab), ear training and songs. I will cater the lessons to meet your needs. If you just want to learn some songs we can do that. If you want to learn how to shred we can do that. If you want to play solo classical guitar we can do that too. All I need from you is to set aside practice time and to practice so we can keep moving forward. If you do I’m sure you will enjoy the results. Playing music can be a lot of fun and now is your chance to be a part of it. I teach all levels from beginners to advanced. If you are interested in finding out more information about lessons I can be reached at Apple Music (503) 226-0036, my cell phone (503) 780-9596 or by e-mail Bretmalm@gmail.com
